My Education:
-- M.Ed in curriculum and instruction from the University of Minnesota (1998)
-- MPA (masters in public administration which is a political science subfield)
from the University of Houston (1983)
-- B.A. with honors from the University of Virginia in government and foreign
affairs (1975)

Licensure:
-- I currently hold a classroom teaching license for grades 1-6.
-- I am working on an elementary math specialist license at the University of
Minnesota.

Teaching Experience:
-- I have taught fifth grade at the American Indian Magnet since 1998.
-- I have supervised the ALC after school program at the American Indian
Magnet since 1999.
-- I taught sixth grade, kindergarten and second grade during the 1997-1998
school year at the American Indian Magnet
-- I was a Discovery Club teacher in the district's before and after school
from 1992--1997.

Other Work Experience:
-- I have been the union steward and site council member for the American
Indian Magnet since 2000.
-- I changed careers to teaching when I moved to Minnesota in October 1991.
Before moving here, I worked for twelve years as a grants specialists at the
University of Houston and Montclair State College in Upper Monclair, New
Jersey.

Personal Information:
-- As a child of an Air Force officer, I moved frequently as a child. Most of my
childhood was spent in the U.S.; however, I lived in Izmir, Turkey from fifth
grade through eighth grade. As a result I am fluent in Turkish.
-- Before moving to Minnesota, I lived in Chester, United Kingdom for two years.
-- My husband is from Turkey and I have a teenage son who attends Central
High School.
